Warm up for golf

Why a good warm-up is necessary:

Prepares the body.
Decreases the risk of injury.
Improves swing mechanics.
Promotes a feeling of well being.
Increases power and strength.
Reduces fatigue.
Enhances Muscles and soft tissues.
Stimulates muscle memory.
Aids consistency and rhythm.
Helps body to be supple.
Decreases tension.
Warms body, mind and soul.
Increases clubhead speed.

Effects of a good warm-up:

Better rotation of the spine.
Body is loose and supple (ready to play).
Increases the golfers confidence knowing that he is ready.
More efficient swing.
Less likely to injure themselves.
Prepares the body for more strenuous activities.
Increases club head speed.
Increases flexibility.
Improve balance.
With all the above must improve score.

Should be included in a warm-up:

Basic warm-up to increase heart rate and body temperature (jogging on the spot or a brisk walk).
Static stretches.
Dynamic stretches.
Stretch agonist and antagonistic muscles.
Total body stretch.
Golf club swings (start light then go faster and include two club swings).

Should not be included in a warm-up:

Stretch when cold.
Overstretching.
Bouncing (Ballistic).
